Network and Security Team Leader in Birmingham, West Midlands

PermanentOur client is looking for a Network and Security Team Leader to join their expanding team, the role is permanent and is located in Birmingham, United Kingdom.
As the Network and Security Team Leader you will play a key role in establishing and leading the technical delivery of a flagship new telecoms testing and evaluation capability.
You will build, grow and mentor a world-class Vulnerability Research (VR), security and interoperability evaluations team including being their point of both technical and non-technical escalation. You will be responsible for quality assurance, testing methodology, performance, resource oversight and the development of the related services and capabilities.
About you:
Required skills and experience
- Technology and strategy leadership experience in telecoms security or equivalent cyber security.
- Track-record in identifying and communicating security challenges in a telecoms network environment.
- Development of test management approaches including test strategies, test plans and resource estimation.
- Threat modelling experience.
- Understanding of hardware and software development lifecycles.
- Applied knowledge of cryptographic algorithms / standards and knowledge of data structures and distributed systems.
- Understanding of network protocols and how software works from assembly through to interpreted languages, and everything in between.
- Familiarity with vulnerabilities such as memory corruption bugs (stack/heap/integer overflows, format strings), and techniques attackers can use to bypass common security protections (e.g. NX, stack canaries, heap protection, ASLR, etc.).
- Ability to develop web or network penetration tests; practical knowledge of common web flaws (e.g. SQL injection, XSS, SSRF, upload/download abuse, RCE).
- Telecommunications industry experience, particularly in security related projects or test lab environments.
This role requires you to have SC clearance or to be eligible to obtain SC clearance.
