We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join the team & support the Mechanical Department to design and build robotic and other hardware that support the business's product objectives.
You'll be responsible for -
Supporting the design, development of, and build of snake-arm robots, industrial robots, tools, test rigs, sensors and other hardware (collectively hardware)
Performing hand calculations and FEA to help develop and support other engineers as designs for new hardware is developed
Helping to optimize and develop designs from basic block models through to manufacture/assembly - be able to apply learnings from analysis and/or test to improve reliability/reduce mass to meet tight project specifications
Work with the mechanical engineers to develop test criteria and procedures to validate electro-mechanical assemblies
Continually and effectively communicate to all members of the mechanical team to maintain team cohesion
Supporting other teams in their work as required
Key Skills and Experience -
Degree level education, supported by significant industrial experience working in multi-disciplinary design teams
Proven ability to produce high quality static analysis using ANSYS Workbench developing load cases based on static and dynamic loading, and able to document and communicate results
Proven ability to develop and document tolerance stacks across multi-body assemblies and be able to support developing schemes that meet specification and maintain high levels of manufacturing capability
Proven ability to develop test methods and carry out testing to validate calculations/analysis and support development of electro-mechanical assemblies
Flexible in work attitude, and have a wider range of mechanical design and/or manufacturing skills to support product development
Ability to support DFSS activities in the development program such as FMEA or selection matrices to help deliver projects on time and to specification
Good organisation skills, able to prioritise under pressure and work to tight deadlines
Flexible work attitude, happy to get stuck into any tasks to support the wider project team.
