We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join us on a short-term contract to assist with the design and documentation for the next generation of Comms equipment. Ideally, the person will have experience within Airborne and Defence Industry.

The Mechanical Engineer role offers hybrid working, with the option of on-site working at our Essex (Basildon) and Southampton offices. The frequency of on-site visits shall be agreed with the IPT, to ensure that key Milestones and Deliverables are met on time, to budget and to the desired quality.

We are looking for experience with the following -
An understanding of design for 'harsh environments' including Shock, Vibration, EMC, salt fog, etc.
Bill of Materials
BS8888 and GD&T
Design of RF Electronics Enclosures
Knowledge of Cable Harness design, including Connector selection, screening, strain relief methods, etc.
Mechanical design and development using 3D CAD tools (ideally PTC Creo)
Numerical calculations, tolerance studies, etc.
Requirements/Compliance management
Detailed design of Mechanical solutions
Experienced in various aspects of DfX, including Manufacturing, Assembly, Test, Integration and Sustainability
