ARM are working with a Global Engineering firm that are looking for a Lead Project Engineer to join the experienced Civils team in York. This is a fantastic opportunity to progress your career in a reputable business while working on the biggest rail infrastructure projects in the UK.
About You:
You will be a Civil Engineer with a background in Project Engineering. Although not essentially, experience within the rail industry would be highly beneficial, including Network Rail standards and processes, safe working or construction.
Specifically, you'll possess:
- Civil Engineering Degree or equivalent education basis and experience,
- IEng qualification or working towards CEng professional qualification with ICE
- Communication skills to connect with others and pride yourself on bringing positive ideas to the team
- Experience of sourcing, procuring and managing a variety of technical sub-contracts within civil engineering projects
- Confidence to jump in and, with support, feel comfortable taking responsibility for tasks and projects you've been assigned
- Have good computer skills, with a good understanding of Microsoft Office packages,
- Aspire to succeed by leading others or developing into an engineering specialist
- Take a proactive approach to your own learning and development to take advantage of the world class opportunities offered
- A strong commitment to safe working in construction
- A full UK driving license or be in the process of obtaining it
What you will be doing:
As part of the Civil Engineering team you, will support the Lead Project Engineering Manager to deliver the civil engineering designs on line side signalling projects. You will manage information flow and coordinate the work of our site investigation sub-contractors and design sub-consultants to help deliver our projects successfully, and also use your civil engineering innovation to improve how we currently do things.
You will take ownership that engineering development due to other project disciplines (e.g. Signalling, E&P and Telecoms) is reflected in the civil engineering design deliverables; and that any changes to assets driven by civil engineering design are discussed and agreed with the other interfacing engineering disciplines.
You will ensure the civil engineering designs are safe and buildable by ensuring input from the Civils CRE has been sought, included from the earliest opportunity and regularly throughout design development stage.
You will also act as technical support to the CEM, in particular where the Civils Design CRE(s) sits in an external organisation and so is a commercial conflict of interest in regard to matters of scope setting and ownership of delivery.
This is a full-time permanent role based in the York office, on a hybrid basis with an average of 3 days in the office per week dependent on project requirements.
What you can expect in return:
You can expect a salary of up to £59,000 DoE plus benefits package that includes 3% bonus, overtime eligibility, 26 day's holiday increasing with length of service, matched pension scheme up to 10%, flexible benefits scheme and investment in personal development and support of professional institution memberships.
