PermanentARMs client is hiring for a role as a IT Support Engineer within a large power solutions company. The company specialises in developing the most efficient clean energy systems making our planets future more sustainable!
The key elements of the IT Support Engineer Function are to operate in an authoritative support role, responsible for the providing internal IT support for server and client applications, cloud-based software, as well as understanding common networking and telecoms infrastructure.
This will include installing, diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and upgrading all organisation end-user hardware and equipment while ensuring optimal workstation performance. You will support desktop, laptop, server, and mobile Operating Systems and applications, from installation to routine maintenance, using existing and future tool sets with a focus on reliability and security. You will also troubleshoot issues (remotely or in-person) in a timely and accurate fashion and provide end-user assistance where required.
With the ability to work independently, and within a team, you will manage your Service Desk ticket requests, and various tracked projects, from assignment to completion within a dynamic environment.
About you...
* You will have solid technical experience working as a technician or systems engineer in a service desk environment
* Expert knowledge of, and experience in supporting Windows platforms.
* Solid understanding of laptop and desktop internal components and peripherals.
* Experience with PC imaging technologies and processes.
* Mobile device equipment support experience (Apple/Android)
* Knowledge of and hands-on experience leveraging management tools to monitor, patch, backup and maintain end-user systems.
* Able to read and understand technical manuals, procedural documentation, and OEM guides; create documentation and procedures.
* Good understanding of TCP/IP Networking and experience with DHCP, DNS, VPN
* Ideally: Windows Workstation (10 & 11 Professional, Microsoft O365, Exchange Online, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, GPO, Checkpoint VPN Client, OneLogin MFA, Confluence, Jira, ManageEngine ServiceDesk, Desktop Central and other ME products. Linux (Ubuntu, RHEL) and/or Windows Server (2013/2016/2019) a plus.
Your key responsibilities:
* New user setup and orientation including installing and configuring workstations, software, telephone services, network printing, etc.
* Carry out root cause analysis and administration of enterprise software.
* Ensure that appropriate measures are established and maintained to safeguard the security of the Company's IT infrastructure, systems, processes databases and information contained therein, whether on or off-
* Assist with IT archiving, network filing and data-sharing activities.
* Provide ad-hoc IT training of various types to users, as required.
* Ensure that all server rooms and similarly dedicated areas are kept in a clean, tidy and fully operational condition at all times, thereby sustaining a suitable operating environment for IT infrastructure.
* Assist with infrastructure and systems configuration and ensure all systems follow an appropriate change control process.
* Audio-visual equipment and video conferencing equipment - Assist with set-up, operation, maintenance and functionality - under the general guidance of the IT and Operations teams.
* Ensure compliance with Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within the IT functional areas of the business.
* To perform any other duties that may be reasonably asked of you.
* To develop, promote and adhere to best practices and to agreed systems and procedures across all areas of work.
