IT Engineer in Portsmouth, Hampshire

Our client is seeking a IT Engineer to join their expanding team based in Portsmouth.

You will process test and grade all equipment at Tier 1 and Tier 2 level including desktops, Servers, Network equipment and mixed IT equipment. Audit to current process and record detailed information using ERP solution.

Responsibilities:

• Process Standard Laptop's, Monitor, PC's & Workstations including advanced Server (+Sun and IBM Power) and Network technologies. Datacentre technology understanding. Process, grade and clean customer assets ensuring all latest Security processes are adhered to including ADISA, Infosec, GDPR and ISO27001. Awareness of data breach implications.
• Recognise media and erase, degauss or shred as required. Clear networking / server equipment using Tera Term. Understand and apply advanced erasure technologies. Produce advanced reports from Erasure suite. Ensure wipe standards are current in-line with changes to ADISA and Infosec standards. Leading to Super-user status.
• Advanced Fault diagnosis including electrical safety awareness. Process, grade and clean customer assets.
• Produce reports, update records using Navision and Microsoft products.
• Perform Warehouse / Driving duties including load, unloading, pallet wrapping. Pick, pack function with keen eye to detail.
• Flexibility is key, as required to support other teams at Voyager Park as required. Occasional overnight stay or flexibility with hours.

EXPERIENCE: Warehouse /Tier 1 tester. Systems or Support desk role. Experience of working with Networking equipment and servers. Procedures for resetting/factory defaults of advanced server and network technologies.

KNOWLEDGE: An advanced knowledge and understanding of IT products including PC and laptop hardware, Advanced Network and Server technologies. Advanced user with erasure wipe methods, Good understanding of HDD architecture and data forensics.

SKILLS: Microsoft Office packages. UK Full driving license essential. Blancco/ White canyon erasure techniques. Familiar with tera term / open source and data formatting.
