Interior Surface Materials Engineer in Coventry, West Midlands

Are you an experienced Materials Engineer seeking a new permanent role? We are supporting a permanent position that is Based in Coventry. As an Interior Surface Materials Engineer you will have a direct input future innovations and exciting new materials.

Responsibilities
* You will work directly with Advanced engineering to deliver the most innovative and sustainable materials into our Vehicles
* Work across the interiors community leading the development and implementation of new materials
* Managing the introduction of new colours on interior materials, working with suppliers to do so, meeting programme gateways on time
* Developing and managing technical specifications and test plans used to validate new materials
* Support the program Engineering teams with issues found in testing and the field related to material selection
* Report out to management on the progress of each of the live projects on a regular basis
* Support with material quality assessments across interiors, developing processes for submission and approval
* Support approvals for grain mapping and grain go
* Manage cross functional alignment of colour/material selection
* Collaborate with supplier partners and research institutes to identify and develop new material advancements in reach of goals of climate neutrality
* Create and manage cosmetic standards for interior components

Requirements
* Degree in Engineering / Materials Science
* Experience within materials research at an institute or material supplier
* Experience developing materials at an Automotive manufacturer
* Excellent communication skills in both verbal and written
* Able to work with Microsoft Office application
* Able to work in a start up environment
* You will have a deep understanding of materials and their chemistry with a working understanding of how to develop and improve material attributes
* Experience in working with sustainability teams and have a working understanding of Life Cycle Analyses
