Head Of Underframe in Gaydon, Warwickshire

Job Purpose:

To ensure technical leadership to the Underframe Engineering team and to provide cross functional leadership of the commodity teams in the development of AM Underframes.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Lead the day to day management of the Underframe Engineering team.
• Lead component and system target QCD target setting, compatibility and adherence.
• Lead the cross functional commodity team
• Ensure all design manuals and AMDS documents are appropriately created and maintained to ensure consistency and robust failure mode avoidance.
• Ensure all failure mode avoidance activities, commodity planning, design progression and DVP testing is completed to achieve Final Engineering sign off in line with timing constraints.
• Achieve business plan investment and piece cost targets

Qualification & Experience:

• Extensive experience in Structural Engineering and Development
• Proven leadership experience.
• Excellent knowledge of tolerance/variation, testing and development, FMEA, problem solving, DFM & tooling principles, appreciation for VFM.
• Excellent mechanical engineering background and a comprehensive knowledge of structural design and development.
• Working knowledge of AMPCS / MISSION or similar Product Creation Process.
• Experience of directly or indirectly leading purchasing, quality or manufacturing engineering teams
• Engineering degree
• Chartered engineer
