My client is one of the UK's largest in the Defence industry & they are looking for a Flight Systems Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. You will be responsible for the design, development and support of mechanical, electrical, and fluidic Aircraft systems such as landing gear, fuel, electrical power generation, crew escape, environmental control / thermal management, flying controls, and propulsion integration. Ensuring to oversee the production of Flight Systems engineering data meet project requirements.
You'll also be responsible for -
Reviewing and approving specifications, reports, and proposals, ensuring technical accuracy and task requirements have been achieved
Steering new systems development through implementation of best practice systems life-cycle processes
Working with customers to support delivered systems and resolve issues
Providing leadership, guidance and coaching to other team members
Providing overall team leadership and management, including responsibilities for task management and prioritisation, performance management, staff development and support, cost control and technical quality
Essential Skills they are looking for -
HNC or higher qualifications or equivalent experience in relevant STEM subject (Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/Physics/Maths/Science)
Demonstrable knowledge of the system engineering life-cycle with ability to apply good systems engineering practices to your work
Typically, 5+ year's experience in Mechanical, Electrical or Fluid Systems Engineering, preferably in an aerospace application, would be expected
Competent in Microsoft Office packages and an ability to develop competence with more specialist tool-sets as necessary
It would be great if you have experience in one or more of the following but it's not essential -
Control system design, and modelling and simulation of both classical and advanced control systems
Experience in designing, developing, and supporting Flight Systems products in an engineering environment
A background in developing products within the broader systems engineering life-cycle
Previous knowledge and experience of system modelling and simulation tool-sets would be highly beneficial, including but not limited to the Math-Works suite of applications
