Purpose of the Role:
To join the Automotive EDS team to support all vehicle electrical systems and prototype harness manufacture and launch phase build support.
Working as the part of a small team reporting to the EDS Manager. You will be required to manage critical rework tasks and test activities throughout each program phase and provide continuous feedback to the team.
Principal Accountabilities:
* LV Harness reworks and prototype harness manufacture
* Support POC rigs, lab car, mule build during development build phases
* Complete harness rework modification for full vehicle LV electrical systems
* Create rework/harness change instructions
* Electrical fault finding, establishing root cause
* Fusing and electrical component selection to ensure safe and robust wiring installation
* Engagement with EDS engineers to meet program deliverables and build timing
* Coordination with other departments to ensure electrical changes are aligned with the build requirements/specification
* Kitting of the harness material and preparation for each phase for yourself and the rework team
* Material procurement to support prototype builds
* Deliver functional prototype harnesses to support development build phases
* Program launch - Build support, RCA and harness fault rectification
* Support external electrical related testing when required
* Support UK and overseas whole vehicle and component testing
* Task tracking - Weekly program status report
* Comply with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policies
* Create harness documentation to track prototype designs to internal / customer requirements
* Shop floor support and concern resolution when required
* Lead rework team (when required) to achieve delivery targets
* Maintain rework tools and test equipment
* Create test reports during testing given an accurate account of events to the EDS team
Knowledge and Experience:
* Experience within the automotive industry or similar domain experience
* Electronics/Electrical/EDS rework awareness within automotive sector or similar tech-based company
* Automotive EDS knowledge and experience for complete wire harness design process
* Familiar with wire harness rework and supporting development phases
* A minimum of 3 years in a similar technical environment, ideally motorsport / automotive
* Apprenticeship time served and/or BTEC National Electrical Engineering or equivalent preferred
* Ability to read design drawings and create Bills of materials for Prototype and First builds
* Ability to read and understand wiring diagrams/schematics
* Flexible working to allow tight deadlines to be achieved
* Experience in building complex prototype Wiring Harnesses
* Familiar with automotive recognised electrical diagnostic tools
* Experience with Microsoft products such as excel, word and PowerPoint
* Write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to guide future production builds
* Liaising with Internal departments to ensure integration of wiring harness and electrical systems into vehicles, defining harness routings with EDS best practice to ensure safe and robust installation
* Coordination with other departments to ensure alignment with the build requirements/specification
* Familiar with automotive connectors depinning and wire crimping
