Electrical Support Engineer in Burnley, Lancashire

What would you be doing?
* The position available will include daily involvement with current reactive and preventive maintenance activities with specific emphasis on controls and instrumentation.
* The right candidate will have experience of PLC interrogation / data acquisition and developing a support structure for site equipment obsolescence and new technologies.
* You will be part of a Reliability Engineering team offering support to our internal customer based across five facilities.
* Your role will involve customer engagement, advice and some development / project work.
* Support and run NPI related control projects
* Support facilities in budget forecast for control systems
* Manage contractors and ensure SHE compliance on all control related works
* Actively support training & development requirements for role
* Establish activities & requirements for a centre of excellence control support function
* Liaise with operations teams at all levels offering excellence in customer service
* Negotiating contracts on service & new requirements with external suppliers
* Support operations in compliance issues and Audit requirements
* Represent Facilities control department at Key meetings
* Drive participative innovation within the Reliability Engineering Team
* Work closely with Reliability engineers & facilities teams to grow and develop the business.
* Be a focal point of contact for issues and concerns control related.
* Apply lean methodology to production related issues, 6S, DMAIC, 5S,
* Be willing to listen, absorb & apply new found knowledge

What is essential to the role? (Essential)
* Control or Electrical backgrounds C&G / HNC (Essential)
* Degree qualification in BEng Control systems (Preferred)
* Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in a maintenance support role (Essential)
* Experience of control system design (Essential)
* Experience of PLC programming and project archive / back-up for Siemens and machine tool platforms (Essential)
* Good analytical & problem solving skills (Essential)
* Excellent time management, ability to priorities tasks (Essential)
* Customer focused with real drive to excel (Essential)
* Excellent MS OFFICE skills (Essential)

What would it be nice to have? (Desirable)
* Ability to train & develop a team (Desirable)
* Experience of chairing meetings & presentations (Desirable)
* Experience in lean methodology & techniques, 6 Sigma green belt (Desirable)
* Some formal training in Health & Safety (Desirable)
* Experience of controlling contractors (Desirable)
