Role Details:

  • Assistant/supervisor/ EC&I Engineer
  • Aldermaston, Reading, full-time on site
  • per diem dependent on the location of a site
  • SC Cleared the Minimum required before starting.
  • 12-month Contract

ARM's Energy Division is in search of Experienced EC&I Engineers, ranging from Supervisors to Engineers, who are qualified and experienced to work positions available both day and night shifts, for a Nuclear Defence Business based out of Aldermaston, Reading.

Some of your duties will include:

  • Ensure that Cavendish Nuclear personnel and subcontractors follow the Project Safety Plan, Health, Safety, Environmental, and Welfare Plan, relevant documents, and legislation.
  • Implement safe working methods and ensure construction work meets specifications.
  • Control changes and schedule work to minimize delays and costs in meeting project deadlines.
  • Ensure contractors and supervisors are competent and maintain safety, health, and environmental standards.
  • Assist in producing and delivering construction work-pack documentation.
  • Brief personnel to safely undertake their duties.
  • Supervise, check, and accept construction work according to specifications, drawings, and standards.
  • Coordinate with designers and technical experts and obtain authorization for modifications.
  • Forecast resource and labour requirements for the project program in their work area.
  • Keep auditable records of work and allocate labour and resources.
  • Coordinate and communicate to achieve construction program dates, liaising on interface working.
  • Ensure personnel complies with Cavendish Nuclear and project-specific procedures, and quality assurance programs.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Strong proficiency in electromechanical systems, including electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation and control components.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards and regulations for electromechanical systems, such as IEC, ISA, and IEEE, and their application to C+I am engineering.
  • Competence in designing and developing electromechanical systems, including the selection of components, sizing and rating calculations, and interface design.
  • Proficiency in using engineering software/tools, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MATLAB, and LabVIEW, for modeling, simulations, and testing.
  • Expertise in troubleshooting electromechanical devices and systems, identifying issues, and proposing solutions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability and flexibility to work in a dynamic, high-pressure project environment.
  • Strong analytical skills, including data analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail in documentation, reports, and technical drawings.
  • Proven experience in C+I is engineering for electromechanical systems in various industries, such as power generation, process industries, and manufacturing.
