Hybrid - 3 Days per week on site in either Birmingham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Manchester, Blackpool or Leeds
My client, a government body are looking for a Digital Java Developer (OpenText Exstream) to join their fast paced team on an initial 6 month contract.
Primary need for the role -
To develop and maintain software products that make up citizen services and contribute towards their design. You will be responsible for the operational stability of the products you build, and be in a position to affect change in the on-going robustness and resilience of those products. You will work within, and contribute to, the overall Software Development Lifecycle Process as part of a multi-functional Agile delivery team focused on one or more products.
Summary of the Role and key responsibilities
* Contribute to estimations/impact assessments, project updates, and plans
* Obtains and evaluates information on factors such as customer requirements & delivery dates
* Transform business requirements in technical solutions
* Build and conduct unit testing of Exstream applications
* Develop and configure custom components.
* Designing Templates, Object, Rules, Variables and creation of Output (AFP & PDF). Familiar with inserts and barcode setup. Understanding of report files and variable reset timing.
Technical Skills required
Experience of any of the below would be very beneficial
* Opentext Exstream v16 or later - Designer, Design Manager, Communications Builder and Control Centre.
* Familiarity with XML and JSON as application drivers, and AFP as an output format.
* Linux/AWS commands and scripting OpenText Exstream API input/output.
Knowledge and Experience required:
e.g. Previous experience of working for a government dept.
* Experience in OpenText Exstream
* Good programming knowledge to build stable applications.
* Extensive knowledge of technical environments, standards, processes, procedures
* Experience in Print & Mail Industry
Desirable skills and experience
* Experience of PDF accessibility feature set
* Understanding of Exstream's Data Processor tool
* HEX based data
* Postman or similar web service app
* SBCS/DBCS systems and data
* OpenText HTML output
