Are you a skilled Design Manager with experience in the nuclear industry? If so, we want you to join ARM's Energy Division as we seek multiple applicants to fill the role for our client, a Nuclear Civil company in the Devonport Dockyard/Plymouth area.
The purpose of the post is:
The Design Manager - Facility Integration reports to the Design and Safety Manager and is responsible for articulating how the design packages will deliver the capability functions and capturing the design concepts within an overall Facility layout through interfacing with users and discipline leads.
Some of your duties will include:
- Responsible for integration of design across the proposed 5 Basin East Wall Centre and South Facility. This includes management of requirements, interfaces, human factors, security, fire, emergency arrangements, facility-level design deliverables, and review activities e.g. Functional Activity Reviews.
- Co-ordinate the operational aspects of the system designs into an overall facility operational concept to demonstrate functional capability;
- Co-ordinate and design spatial layout and process management of the facility by integration of the system design into an overall facility layout;
- Liaise with the User Acceptance Group Lead / Engineer to ensure operational aspects of the system and facility designs are understood and accepted
- Ensure that the processes and activities being managed are appropriately documented with appropriate records, and maintained, and that configuration and quality controls applied;
What do you need to succeed?
- Experience providing expert advice to the sub-contracted design houses to enable them to develop designs;
- Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post and project requirements;
- Sound project specification, planning, project management, and budgeting experience;
- Sound understanding of organisational and departmental procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety, and Quality requirements, and the ability to manage projects in accordance with these procedures;
- Working knowledge of relevant engineering office computer applications;
- Experience of the design support to construction, operation, and refit/repair of conventional and nuclear submarines and/or facilities.
