Lead Material Planner – Valkyrie

JOB PURPOSE:
The Lead Material Planner is responsible for working with suppliers to ensure that parts supply supports the production build process. The Lead Material Planner is required to work with and manage the suppliers for serial and pre-production parts. For suppliers impacting the build due to parts supply issues the Planner needs to work with cross functional teams and lead activities to resolve supply issues.
You will be required to confirm that parts supply supports the production build by achieving the required deliveries. Identify issues which could impact production due to parts supply issues then working with suppliers to manage parts delivery against the supplier demand and resolving issues. Leading activities as required with cross functional teams to ensure supply continuity.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure supplier demand is forecasted and communicated to the supply base; proactive discussions take place to predict and prevent issues impacting production.
- Ensure parts are available to meet minimum safety stock levels.
- Identify risks to supply continuity are identified and acted upon to minimise the impact to production.
- Lead activities to improve supplier performance working with supplier senior management, purchasing, quality and engineering and report supplier performance within the company.
- Support the launch, engineering change and inventory coordinator to reduce obsolescence resulting from engineering changes or new model revisions / introductions.
- Problem solving for shortages that result in the recurrence prevention.
- Minimise the need for direct deliveries (rather than planned pick-ups) and emergency shipments.
- Support the changeover processes relating to ERP/MRP implementation (Goldcrest to Infor).
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Extensive material planning experience essential.
- Supplier management experience.
- Use of ERP systems.
- High degree of MS Office knowledge is essential (with emphasis on Excel).
- Excellent Communication skills.
- Experience of analysing data.
- Automotive product knowledge an advantage.
- Able to diagnose supply issues and use problem solving skills to identify root causes and countermeasures with suppliers.
