We are looking for a Data Engineering Team Lead to work within a dynamic, data capability to deliver Azure based data solutions using Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS and Power BI for a blue-chip Insurance customer on a Greenfield ETL, Data Warehouse and BI project.
You will work within a cross-functional team of fellow Data Engineers, as well as Architects, Business Analysts and Test Analysts to provision data ingestion, transformation, and dash boarding capabilities in an Agile environment.
You will be comfortable with stakeholder engagement and take ownership for the delivery of key solution components. As the Development Team Lead, you will be responsible for ensuring that the team delivers high-quality work that meets the requirements and expectations of our customers.
What you'll need:
To be confident in providing oversight and direction to the work conducted by the development team
Strong SQL skills, with significant experience in Microsoft SQL Server being desirable.
Comfortable with industry standard version control tooling, namely, Git and Azure Dev Ops and associated CI/CD pipelines
Demonstrable experience working across the full SDLC, from analysis and design, through build, and into live
Working knowledge of relational database design fundamentals (e.g. relational/dimensional modelling, indexing, partitioning)
Ensure work is conducted in line with the Definition of Done, e.g. code reviews, code quality, etc.
Excellent communication skills to elaborate and prioritize back log items. Working with the Business Analysts as proxy product owners.
Able to use your judgement and experience to articulate issues and implications of decisions to the customer.
Define and implement engineering best practices, e.g. source control
Create and update project documentation as needed
Be able to read and review artifacts created by the development team
Other relevant skills include:
Awareness of the Azure Cloud platform.
The ability to analyse data sources for needed metrics
General purpose languages for dealing with data e.g. Python
Optimisation of Power BI dashboards with a focus on usability, performance, flexibility, testability, and standardization
Build, test, and deployment of optimised data solutions for analytics and reporting (for example datamarts, views, perspectives, cubes)
Planning of data platform services including sizing, configuration, and needs assessment
