Engineer – Body Structures in Surrey

Role Guidelines:
General Characteristics:
- Develops increased knowledge and skills most likely within the set of responsibilities show below
- Evaluates, selects, and applies standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assignments of limited complexity
- Collaboratively uses judgement to determine adaptions to standard practices
- Undertakes leadership of small work packages
Typical Technical Responsibilities:
- Undertakes defined assignments
- Develops workflows to deliver assignments
- Prepares portions of project documentation (models, drawings, reports etc.)
- Assists on a wide variety of tasks across departments and functions as required
Managerial Responsibilities:
- Assists in determining schedules and budgets for familiar tasks
- Undertakes small and well defined work packages
Direction Received:
- Receives instruction of specific objectives
- Receives direction on unconventional and/or complex problems, and possible solutions
- Receives a thorough review of completed assignments for application of sound engineering judgement
Communication skills:
- Possesses effective oral and written communication skills
- Assists with customer communications associated with specific assignments
- Interacts with contractors
Experience:
- Associate Member of professional practice organisation
- Involved with outreach activities focuses towards schools and education (e.g. STEM)
- 2+ years
Departmental Responsibilities:
- Ownership of relevant section
- 3D package modelling
- Manage interface with styling
- Engineering responsibility (including design and release) of full vehicle body systems:
- Occupant cell
- Crash management
- Sub frames
- Structural floors
- Design for manufacture and assembly for responsible components
- Ensuring responsible designs meet legal compliance
- Work Package Management
- Design Sizing Analysis
- Sub system loads
- Joints and interfaces
- Materials selection
- Bolt calculations
- Cost, timing and mass
Miscellaneous:
- Identify and highlight any areas for continuous improvement
- Ensure that your technical knowledge and expertise is kept up to date
- To perform any other duties that may well be reasonably expected within the remit of the role
- To ensure compliance with the Health, Safety and Environmental Policy requirements within areas of responsibility
Remuneration:
- Hours: 40 hours - Full time in office (4 flexi WFH days per month)- Managers discretion
- Competitive salary
