We are looking for a detail-oriented Electrical Test Technician to join a busy manufacturing and quality team. This role involves carrying out electrical testing to verify product conformity, including continuity, bonding, and resistance testing on electrical cable and wire harness assemblies.
The successful candidate will work on both high-volume production and bespoke or investigative projects, ensuring products meet customer and industry quality standards. Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE), including programming and operation, is highly desirable. You will be expected to follow work instructions, manage non-conforming products, and work in accordance with IPC industry standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform electrical testing, including continuity, bonding, and resistance testing, to verify product compliance.
- Operate electrical test equipment such as digital multimeters, ohmmeters, and other inspection tools.
- Program and operate Automated Test Equipment (ATE), where applicable.
- Follow work instructions, standard operating procedures, and quality requirements.
- Identify, document, and manage non-conforming products.
- Support fault-finding and investigation activities on new or complex products.
- Ensure compliance with IPC quality standards and ESD handling procedures.
- Work collaboratively with manufacturing and quality teams to maintain high product standards.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards for cable and wire harness assemblies.
- Understanding of ESD control and the handling of sensitive electronic products.
- Experience using electrical measurement equipment, including digital multimeters and ohmmeters.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to follow work instructions and standard operating procedures accurately.
- Basic fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards for electronic assemblies.
- Experience programming and operating Automated Test Equipment (ATE).
- Experience using SAP or other ERP systems.
- Previous experience within aerospace, defence, electronics manufacturing, or another regulated manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment.
- Continuous improvement mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
