Are you a Mechanical or Automotive Engineer eager to begin your career within a leading automotive OEM environment?

A Master Technician looking to take your workshop expertise and apply it to the development of service and repair processes for new vehicles?

Do you have hands-on vehicle experience and an interest in how technical documentation and repair strategies are created upstream?

My client has an exciting opportunity for a Service Evaluation & Repair Process (SERP) Engineer to join a friendly, collaborative team supporting a well-known Automotive OEM. This role offers the chance to work within an established upstream service environment, developing, writing, and delivering technical documentation. It's an ideal entry point for Graduate engineers or experienced technicians looking to transition into the automotive design and manufacturing industry.

The role:

  • Undertaking virtual service assessments of new vehicle and powertrain designs with a view to ensuring serviceability in line with customer requirements.
  • Generating technical reports based upon these assessments and working with Service specialists to feedback potential serviceability issues to the vehicle designers.
  • Representing the Service organisation to the design engineering communities and project-managing SERP participation in the product development lifecycle.
  • Provide support for special tool development.

Requirements:

  • Vehicle workshop experience is key. SERP analysis involves replicating workshop service operations in a digital engineering environment. Having a feel for realistic work parameters in service operations is a must.
  • Excellent communication and customer facing skills are essential - you will be working directly with our customers.
  • A tenacious and can-do approach is imperative, as well as a consideration for health and safety, risks and accessibility.
  • Excellent computer skills are important and experience of working in the 3D digital environment is helpful. Use of CAD and CAD visualisation tools are an important part of the day-to-day role of a SERP Engineer. We will provide training on all Technical Authoring software if needed!
  • First class organisational and project management skills; your responsibilities will include understanding and implementing how your work will interact with a vehicle programme's product development lifecycle.
  • Degree or relevant/applicable experience.
  • Full Driving License.
  • While not essential, creating and delivering presentations to the customer would be a great skill to bring to the role.

Benefits:

  • Private Medical Insurance with Vitality Health
  • Stakeholder pension
  • 25 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Long Service Award scheme
  • Subsidised optical care
  • Enhanced Maternity Pay
