6 Month rolling contract
£65 per hour Umbrella - Inside IR35 only
Overview
ARM is recruiting for an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support a growing Energy Transition team delivering some of the UK's most innovative low- and zero-carbon energy projects.
The Role
As a senior member of the engineering team, you will lead mechanical engineering activities from early-stage feasibility studies through to detailed design, construction support, operation and decommissioning.
You will work closely with developers, utilities, EPC contractors, OEMs, government bodies and investors to deliver safe, practical and commercially effective engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop innovative and cost-effective mechanical engineering solutions
- Lead mechanical design activities across Feasibility, Concept, FEED and Detailed Design stages
- Produce engineering calculations, specifications and datasheets
- Specify and assess major equipment including:
Turbines
Compressors
Pumps
Pressure vessels
Heat exchangers
- Support development of PFDs and P&IDs alongside process engineers
- Participate in plant layout development and 3D model reviews
- Review vendor proposals and liaise with equipment suppliers
- Provide technical support for operational plant integrity and troubleshooting
- Support bid preparation and multidisciplinary engineering proposals
Requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
- Chartered Engineer status (or working towards CEng/IEng)
- Significant post-graduate experience within Power Generation or Oil & Gas
- Strong understanding of industry codes and standards for plant equipment and piping systems
- Experience in pressure vessel and piping design, including stress analysis
- Familiarity with plant 3D modelling environments
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Operational plant troubleshooting and integrity assessment experience
- Knowledge of gas turbine systems
- Reciprocating engine experience would be advantageous
