About the Role:
The Energy Division at ARM is currently seeking a Principal Engineer - (Dock Flood and dewatering) to join our Leading Nuclear Defence Business.
Main Purpose of Role:
Responsible for overseeing the mechanical and structural engineering components of the Dock Flood and dewatering package to ensure successful delivery. This includes ensuring that systems are designed according to defined requirements and comply with relevant HSE and Nuclear Safety regulations. Additionally, responsible for managing the mechanical engineering work packages, ensuring they meet the required scope, quality, schedule, and cost.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing the mechanical engineering aspects of the Dock Flood and dewatering packages, including overseeing designer performance, and providing technical expertise.
- Offering guidance and reviewing the mechanical and structural design of various elements, such as mechanical and structural systems.
- Ensuring the integration of the design with other relevant design packages.
- Producing design documentation that aligns with the project manager's requirements and is completed to agreed-upon standards, schedule, and budget.
- Planning for effective project implementation by identifying key factors and contributing to the technical planning process.
- Ensuring that Quality Management Arrangements are followed, in line with the Business Management System and Technical Manual.
- Documenting processes and activities, maintaining appropriate records, and applying configuration and quality controls.
- Communicating effectively with staff and contractors to make sure they are aware of the hazards and risks associated with the work carried out by the engineering team, by effectively managing and communicating the Risk Assessment.
What do you need to succeed?
- Experience with Gate Valves and pen stocks
- Experience of the design and substantiation of mechanical structural systems, designing/validating mechanical structures,
- Preferable to have experience producing/reviewing Finite Element Analysis
- Preferable knowledge of relevant design and analysis codes for satisfying Nuclear Safety Functions.
- Knowledge of fabrication, manufacture, testing, certification, and installation techniques
