Our Chosen Charity: Rowans Hospice!

Serocor Group

The ARM charity of Choice, 2019

Rowans Hospice is a charity improving the lives of people living with life-limiting illnesses. They also support families and carers across Portsmouth and SE Hampshire.

On site, the charity provides a specialist in-patient service for treatment and symptom relief. They simultaneously manage a ‘Living Well’ drop-in centre for support, therapy and group activities. Much-needed respite for carers and a bereavement service for family/friends are additionally elements of their offering.

“We offer specialist support wherever it is needed. At the Hospice, at home and in the local community.”

This wonderful charity would not be able to operate without the support of its local community. So it seemed a perfect fit for the Serocor group. Many of our loved ones were supported by Rowans, at the time they needed it most.

Fundraising is vital in maintaining the high standard of care and support that Rowans provide. Thus it’s unsurprising that over 170 fundraising events took place last year alone. With moonlit walks, sky-diving, dancing; there’s an event for everyone. We can’t wait to get involved!

Volunteering is just as important. Last year, over 168,000 volunteering hours were completed. This hands-on support is invaluable to a charity like Rowans, allowing them to focus their resources where needed most.

“Your gift of time and support enables us to continue delivering expert, compassionate end of life care to families, free of charge, right across our area of care.”

It’s rewarding for volunteers too. Here at the Serocor group, we have 16 hours of volunteering time every year.
