Key Duties:
As a VTS Officer, your responsibilities will include:
1. **Vessel Traffic Management:** Monitor and manage vessel traffic within the designated area, ensuring safe navigation, collision avoidance, and compliance with regulations.
2. **Communication:** Maintain clear and effective communication with vessels, providing timely information on weather conditions, navigation hazards, and traffic situations.
3. **Emergency Response:** Act swiftly in response to emergency situations, coordinating with relevant authorities, and taking appropriate measures to safeguard lives and protect the environment.
4. **Data Analysis:** Utilize VTS systems to collect, record, and analyze data related to vessel movements, traffic patterns, and incidents, contributing to the improvement of navigation safety.
5. **Reporting:** Prepare accurate and comprehensive reports on vessel traffic, incidents, and observations, supporting decision-making processes and regulatory compliance.
6. **Training and Education:** Participate in training programs and workshops to stay updated on VTS procedures, regulations, and technology advancements, ensuring continuous professional development.
Requirements:
To be eligible for the role of VTS Officer, candidates must meet the following requirements:
1. Hold a valid V-103/1 VTS qualification, demonstrating a deep understanding of VTS principles and practices.
2. Possess a valid MCA VTS Certification Log or equivalent marine qualifications like STCW, showcasing your competency in maritime operations.
3. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with vessels and colleagues.
4. Ability to work in a high-pressure environment, make quick decisions, and respond calmly during emergency situations.
5. Proficiency in using VTS systems and related software for monitoring and data analysis.
6. Knowledge of maritime regulations, navigation rules, and safety procedures.
