Tool Maker in Cardiff

Our client is looking for a Tool Maker to join their team in the Cardiff area on a permanent basis.

The primary function of this role is to manage the manufacturing press tools by regularly checking and making repairs as necessary to maintain quality and productivity of the manufacturing press tools.

Duties will include but not be limited to:
* Carry out planned preventative maintenance of all equipment and machinery.
* Provide technical, hands-on support for machinery and equipment breakdowns.
* Ordering and inventory management of Press Tool parts required for maintenance
* Planning and execution of press tool maintenance in cooperation with external contractors.
* First-line response to Tooling breakdowns.
* Carry out model changeovers to tooling.
* Find faults based on critical dimension measurement/cosmetic checks of press parts.

The ideal candidate should have:
* Drawing reading skills.
* Machining skills (Turning, Milling, Grinding, Drilling, Welding, etc.).
* Measurement skills (Caliper, Micrometer, Height gauge, etc.).
* Team player spirit.
* Accurate fault-finding techniques
* Excellent mechanical problem-solving skills.
* Knowledge and application of safe working practices, good housekeeping (5S) and completion of Risk Assessment Reports.
* Ability to liaise with material suppliers and tooling contractors.
* Ability to teach apprentices.
* Good communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure.

Working hours are 07:30-16:30 Monday-Thursday and 07:30-12:15 Friday.
Our client is willing to pay between £28.000 - £33.000 per annum for the right candidate.
