Software Architect
Location: Yeovil (Hybrid working)
What you'll be doing:
* Ownership of requirements, design and implementation, and test to a high standard, within schedule and estimates.
* Assisting the design of technical solutions
* Leading software development of solutions
* Overseeing testing involved in verifying the above
* Ensuring adherence to project processes and software development practices
* Supporting System Test and Integration Activities
* Production of technical documentation
* Diagnosing and solving identified issues
* Estimation of development activities
Your skills and experiences:
Experience of:
* Software development lifecycle and processes (e.g., design, coding, unit testing) and tools (e.g., UML design tools, code IDEs, source code control, defect reporting systems)
* Desktop-based applications (Java and Eclipse RCP or C#/C++/Python)
* Web-oriented applications and services (Java/C#, JavaScript, JSP, HTML, CSS, Apache middleware)
* Object-oriented design/development including UML, SysML or XML
Understanding of:
* Agile and scrum
* MoD or Industry IT projects and programmes
* Industry tools and processes such as DOORS, Enterprise Architect, JIRA or Git
The Software team:
The Cross-Domain product development and solutions team is a close-knit engineering team within the company - Applied Intelligence operating in a dynamic market. The team is responsible for the development of world-leading network security and communication appliances that operate at multi-gigabit speeds, combining software and custom hardware. Cross-Domain customers include a variety of government departments, telecommunications, and critical national infrastructure companies.
The Software Engineer role will involve innovation and development of new cutting-edge products, mentoring and coaching other engineers (depending on grade) and supporting technical bid and project activities. Our systems support Governments and Customers around the world in helping them defend against cyber threats and so they must be able to rely on the quality of our products. The role interfaces both with our wider development teams, and clients as required.
