Senior Procurement Contracts Specialist
Reports to: Procurement Manager
Job purpose: To assist with the day to day running of the Procurement department and communications both internal and external with our suppliers and partners. Evaluating current supply base and identifying efficiency's, working with internal stakeholders to truly understand the nature and purpose of each new contract, using this understanding to draft a contract based upon our standard templates or to mark-up the proposed contracts from the suppliers highlighting any areas of concern to the Procurement Manager, legal team, Data Protection, and Information Security teams. Liaising with suppliers to negotiate more favourable terms. Support the Procurement Manager on larger strategic projects and act as cover whenever necessary.
Responsibilities
* Working closely with internal stakeholders and departments as a whole, to get a detailed understanding of the needs of a proposed contract, suggesting alternative solutions to meet the need and providing efficiency's and savings.
* Assessing the implications of the contract, its dependencies and our obligations, Data Protection risks and information security concerns.
* Conducting a 1st line review of the contract terms, marking-up any areas of concern for approval by the Procurement Manager, Legal counsel, DP and info sec Managers, stakeholders and Leadership Team sponsors.
* Facilitating sign-off of contracts and gathering all necessary approvals from internal teams.
* Conversing with suppliers to request any contract amends that are needed and negotiating a mutually acceptable outcome.
* Training other team members as and when necessary to aid in their development.
* Assisting the business by sourcing new suppliers and running end to end RFx exercises.
* General Procurement advice and assisting the wider business with any procurement related questions.
* Provide holiday cover to other roles within the Procurement team, covering systems and processes.
* Act as cover for the Procurement Manager as and when necessary.
* Any other duties reasonably requested by the Procurement Manager.
Characteristics to make the role successful.
* Experienced in contract review and mark-up with understanding of contract law principles.
* Excellent people skills - confident to work with people at all levels, both internal and external.
* Methodical and organised, able to work on your own initiative and to work on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
* Conscientious work ethic with ability to manage own workload and prioritise accordingly.
* Strong commercial acumen
Qualifications/Minimum Experience
* Minimum of 2 years within a similar role, with extensive experience of contract review and negotiation
Desired
* Background in Marketing Procurement or IT procurement
* CIPS qualification
