Senior Planner in Frimley, Surrey

PermanentARM is currently working with a market-leading engineering consultancy who are looking for a Senior Planner to join their team.
Working with their key Clients within the Defence industry, this is a fully remote opportunity with occasional travel to client sites.
Due to the nature of the sector, this role requires candidates to hold a current SC Clearance.

As a Senior Planner, you will be responsible for:
* Define the Schedule Management Plan in line with best practice guidance to identify the approach to managing the schedule throughout the project/program/portfolio life-cycle
* Provide advice and guidance on planning processes, tools, and standards to the team
* Lead on developing fully scoped L0/L1/L2 plans and associated Work Breakdown structures (WBS)
* Maintain, and update the plans, comparing work performed against the baseline schedule, advising on missed forecasted milestones, missed dependencies, and associated impact assessments
* Test and check logic and be able to identify errors or conflicts that will impact delivery
* Identify and report variances against plan, including activities impacting the critical path, or near critical path, report the impact of changes and offer potential solutions
What you'll need to do the role:
* Proven record in the implementation of planning practices on major/complex projects/programs
* Ability to assimilate planning information from a variety of sources, understand the impact/implications of misalignments and discrepancies and propose actions.
* Understand critical path analysis and able to generate reports and views as part of the management information.
* Must be comfortable working with uncertainty, making, communicating, and testing assumptions.
* Analytic background with skills in problem identification
* Experience in the use of Primavera P6 or an equivalent planning tool
