ARM is delighted to be recruiting a Senior Paralegal to join our client on a permanent basis. This position can be remote but certain regions are covered which may need occasional travel too. This includes Hampshire, Wiltshire, Somerset, Dorset, Devon and Cornwall and London.
The Senior Paralegal will provide legal advice and support to colleagues across the Group in matters relating to the management and protection of land and property assets.
Responsibilities
* Provide informed legal advice and support to colleagues for the long-term protection of the Group's land assets from matters such as boundary discrepancies, trespass, adverse possession or prescription and actively pursue and enforce known breaches of covenant in accordance with an established process.
* Effective monitoring and scrutiny of case files to ensure the timescales and deadlines required for the transaction are met, documentation stored compliantly, and case management records maintained for audit purposes.
* Contribute towards team targets by negotiating the best possible value for land and property assets bearing in mind the requirements of the Charities Act 2011.
* Follow the correct governance processes when dealing with applications to licence land, grants rights over land, dispose of land or vary interests in land.
* Undertake all administrative duties including updating case management systems, processing sales documentation and signing and sealing of documents within an agreed timescale.
* Undertake project work within key areas of the business where legal input and advice is required.
* Coach and develop direct reports and bring leadership support to the Land and Property Manager and the wider team. Lead and motivate colleagues to provide a high-quality professional service and ensure that team targets are met.
* Manage colleague performance, development and growth using the appropriate policies, procedures and platforms.
* Assist the Land and Property Manager in the review of all policies and procedures. Recommend amendments, improvements and efficiencies to ensure that legal and regulatory requirements are met and service levels, expectations and a high level of customer service is delivered.
Requirements
* Strong academic background with a law degree or equivalent training.
* Leadership experience or equivalent training.
* Working knowledge and experience of land law and the conveyancing process.
* Able to understand and interpret Housing Laws and legislation.
* Navigates legal database certifications such as Lexis Nexis or Westlaw.
* Excellent analytical and critical evaluation skills.
