Senior Engineer - Construction Engineering & Assurance

Location: Southwark / predominantly site-based
Rate: £529 per day umbrella
Contract: 6-month contract

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Engineer - Construction Engineering & Assurance to support a major London Underground upgrade programme. This is a predominantly site-based role, providing construction engineering expertise across a range of civil engineering assets and ensuring works are delivered safely, to the required standards and in line with contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide construction engineering and assurance input across the project lifecycle.
  • Lead and support construction quality assurance, including surveillance, supervision and inspections.
  • Review and manage design submissions coming into site.
  • Provide technical input on constructability, construction methods and temporary works.
  • Act as, or support, the NEC Supervisor where required.
  • Ensure construction activities comply with relevant standards, procedures, specifications and contractual requirements.
  • Apply a risk-based approach to construction assurance and quality.
  • Work closely with contractors, designers and wider engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
  • Support the safe delivery of complex multidisciplinary construction activities.
  • Provide technical advice and professional engineering judgement to project stakeholders.

About You

We are looking for an experienced construction/civil engineering professional with:

  • Significant experience working as a Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC).
  • Strong civil engineering site experience across a range of assets, such as steel, concrete, buildings and earthworks.
  • Experience managing and reviewing design submissions on site.
  • Experience in construction assurance, inspection, supervision or quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of relevant construction legislation, technical standards and industry best practice.
  • Understanding of temporary works, constructability and construction risk management.
  • Membership of a recognised professional engineering institution, working towards membership, or demonstrable equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Experience within a railway or other safety-critical environment would be highly desirable.

  • SMSTS
  • Membership of, or progression towards membership of, a recognised engineering institution.
