We are expanding our Quality Organisation to support the company's growth and continued demand, as such we are seeking Quality Engineers.

This role is responsible for all the quality activities within the production process at GMA. This covers the activities from concepting and R&D to ensure a smooth transition into manufacturing, all the way through the development pre-production and production builds. In the role you will be expected to continually improve the production process and reduce waste, identify, and lead issues to resolution, and be able to complete vehicle level evaluation and complete final vehicle sign off.

You will work directly with manufacturing and design engineering and supply quality confirming critical & significant product characteristics and process definition & parameters.

Responsibilities:

Capture quality concerns in the prototype & production build processes and facilitate root cause analysis & corrective actions and perform verification of corrective actions.

  • Manage temporary containment in the GMA assembly process including approval of component rework and process deviation.
  • Manage Non-Conforming, Scrap & reject-return processes
  • Facilitate the resolution of production and development issues, using appropriate tools (8D/4D/5Y) including leading root cause analysis and corrective actions and perform verification of corrective and preventative actions. Ownership for metrology to support investigations.
  • Support DFMEA & PFMEA's with key focus on identification of critical and significant characteristics to ensure that they are captured in the design documentation and active controls plans are in place in the supply change and internal manufacturing processes
  • Support the development and implementation of the GMA measurement and inspection strategy. Work with the design engineering and SQE's to ensure drawings are suitably dimensioned to reflect the needs of the control plans.
  • Support the Production and Development teams in the continual evolution of the process flows, work instructions and control plans. Ensure the process effectiveness is monitored and continually improved.
  • Support the Senior Quality Engineer in completion of production and pre-production vehicles meet the Type Approval and Conformity of Production standards
  • Act as a leader for continual improvement using Lean Thinking, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke (Error Proofing), Measurement System Analysis etc.
  • Report on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in order to adhere to process and prevent occurrence of any non-conformity relating to product, process or system.
  • Liaise with internal departments in order to carry out 'internal quality audits' to ensure adherence to ISO9001 certification.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Fundamental understanding of engineering design, manufacturing and assembly process. Would need to be highly competent in reviewing engineering drawings, with a fundamental understanding of GD&T and have an aware of the technology availability and suitability to measure complex mechanical design. Experience of Catia V5 would be an advantage.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience of leading Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) in a complex engineering environment
  • Experience of acting independently as the product quality role in a producttechnology or engineering business with high cosmetic and perceived quality standards.
  • Experience of using various problem solving tools and techniques, including 8D and 5Y
  • Application and development of Lean Thinking in a complex engineering environment would be an advantage
  • Developed Processes withing an recognised Quality management system, ISO9001 or equivalent, beingqualified and experienced as an internal or external auditor would be an advantage
  • Understanding of measurement and inspection methods and techniques, specific Metrology or other technical measurement experience would be highly valued
  • Must have a fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes, their strengths and limitations.
  • Experience of developing process flows, work instructions and controls plane and demonstrate ability to continually improve and evolve these processes.
  • Understanding of Lean Six Sigma approach is highly valued and being trained to Green belt would be an advantage.
  • Must be able to demonstrate you have used metrics to drive product or system improvements and would be expected to be confident at using and developing Excel and or data bases develop the metrics.
  • Fundamental understanding of approach to perceived quality. Experience of product benchmarking, target setting and incorporation of measurement techniques would be highly valued
  • Must have Full UK driving license
