Procurement Officer - Public Sector

Location: London, Hybrid
Duration: Until end of February 2027
Rate: £361.17 Umbrella per day

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Procurement Officer to join a busy procurement team, supporting the delivery of a range of commercial and procurement activities across multiple service areas.

The role will involve supporting the Procurement Manager with procurements up to approximately £8m, while independently managing a number of procurement exercises from inception through to contract award.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage end-to-end procurement exercises from inception through to award.
  • Support the delivery of procurements up to approximately £8m.
  • Develop and review tender and contract documentation.
  • Evaluate supplier submissions and commercial proposals.
  • Ensure procurement activities comply with relevant legislation, governance and internal processes.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to understand requirements and develop appropriate procurement solutions.
  • Manage supplier engagement and contribute to contract and supplier management.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks, ensuring value for money and contractual compliance.
  • Support sourcing strategies and contribute to business cases and commercial approaches.
  • Use procurement systems and tools, including e-procurement platforms.
  • Build effective relationships with stakeholders and suppliers.

Essential Experience:

  • At least 3 years' experience within procurement, commercial or buying roles.
  • Proven experience managing procurement exercises independently.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end procurement and commercial lifecycle management.
  • Experience evaluating tenders and commercial submissions.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to produce and review contract and tender documentation.
  • Strong commercial and analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work with minimal supervision.

Desirable:

  • Public sector procurement experience.
  • Knowledge of public procurement regulations and the Procurement Act.
  • Experience using public sector frameworks such as CCS.
  • SAP Ariba experience.
  • CIPS qualification or working towards CIPS.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated or governed environment.

The successful candidate will be commercially focused, confident working independently and comfortable managing stakeholders and suppliers across multiple procurement activities.
