PermanentWe are looking for a Principal FPGA Engineer for one of our key defence clients based in London on a hybrid basis. The company are an innovative company based in London that work on next generation defence and security electronics products to combat various range of threats, they do this by having a creative and cutting-edge technology which themselves above and beyond other products in the market.
The Job
The Principal FPGA Engineer oversee the translating top-level system or product requirements into implementable FPGA architecture. The Principal Engineer is in charge of all FPGA developments, from initial specifications to confirmed designs running on target hardware. The Principal Engineer is an expert in electronic design, testing, and certification of systems based on sophisticated FPGAs. The Principal Engineer will also provide coaching, leadership, and advice to other Design Engineers in collaboration with the FPGA Engineering Manager.
Please note you will be expected to travel within the United Kingdom may be required on an as-needed basis for this position. This may be necessary on short notice.
Main Responsibilities
* You will use solid engineering practises to create Firmware for new, innovative, and profitable business products and solutions.
* You will be responsible for supporting and improving existing Firmware in accordance with business and commercial requirements.
* Define requirements for a feature/bug fix all the way up to the entire system level; design and document a solution that fulfils the requirements; and develop, test, and verify the design fits the requirements with supported test evidence.
* Responsible for the design, implementation, and debugging of VHDL-based FPGA hardware.
* Design and development of test benches and vectors for VHDL-based FPGAs.
* Produce technical documentation such as requirement specifications, test specifications, and functional descriptions.
* Be in charge of creating a Software/Firmware package for release, including setting the release.
Essential experience
* 10 or more years' experience working on FPGA designs.
* Experience working on systems containing multiple FPGAs.
* Proven track record of analysing system requirements at the highest level and decomposing them into a suitable
* Proven track record of producing designs on time and within budget.
* Experience working on Radar or related DSP applications.
MUST BE ELIGIBLE FOR SECURITY CLEARANCE DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE WORK
