About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Fitter with an overhead crane licence to join the team for an exciting hydropower project. This role includes all the responsibilities of a Mechanical Fitter A, with the added responsibility of operating overhead cranes for complex lifts, ensuring safety and precision in all tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Disassemble, install, and assemble turbines and generator components.
- Operate overhead cranes for complex lifts (CPCS A62 & A64 required).
- Use and maintain mechanical tools and devices.
- Troubleshoot, repair, and commission machinery.
- Coordinate with other team members to ensure safe and efficient lifting procedures.
- Ensure that overhead crane operations meet all safety standards and procedures.
Pay & Benefits:
- £22.20 per hour (Days), £28 per hour (Nights)
- Accommodation paid for on- site or £350 per week accommodation allowance (depending on location)
- £25/day food allowance.
- Travel covered at the start and end of the project.
- 38 hours standard + overtime (expected 50 hours per week on project)
- Overtime paid at an additional higher rate
- Standard holiday allowance + bank holidays (prorated for during of contract)
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a mechanical fitter in turbine or generator maintenance.
- Overhead crane licence (CPCS A62 & A64) for complex lifts.
- Knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Health and safety awareness and adherence to all site safety protocols.
- Ability to work in remote locations and under challenging conditions.
- H&S qualification/NEBOSH
- Level 3 Qualification (e.g. Recognised Training Scheme or Apprenticeship) appropriate to Mechanical Engineering
