Marine Engineer (Liverpool)

Our client who are a leading maritime services provider, and is seeking a dedicated and experienced Marine Engineer to join their team based in Liverpool. As an Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the reliable operation of our Pilot Boat Service, contributing to the safety and efficiency of our maritime operations.

The Engineer will carry out the duties and responsibilities of the Duty Engineer, providing out-of-hours cover for the Pilot Boat Service. In addition, the role involves fulfilling all requirements outlined in the planned maintenance schedule, offering technical guidance to Pilot Boat crews, maintaining inventory of Mechanical and Electrical spares, operating oil spill pollution equipment, and managing engineering checklists as directed by the Technical Manager.

Responsibilities:

Duty Engineer:
Execute duties and responsibilities as the Duty Engineer, providing out-of-hours cover for the Pilot Boat Service.
Demonstrate flexibility with working hours, participating in an on-call rota with availability required every 3rd week.

Maintenance and Repair:
Fulfil all requirements specified in the planned maintenance schedule for Pilot Boats.
Provide timely and effective maintenance and repair for engineering, electrical, and hull systems.

Technical Guidance:
Offer technical guidance to Pilot Boat crews, identifying and addressing shortcomings to maintain good working practices.
Collaborate with crews to enhance their understanding of vessel systems and safety procedures.

Inventory Management:
Maintain an inventory of Mechanical and Electrical spares as directed by the Technical Manager, ensuring availability for prompt repairs.

Oil Spill Response:
Operate and deploy oil spill pollution equipment as required, contributing to environmental safety efforts.

Record Keeping:
Maintain and retain engineering checklists as directed by the Technical Manager, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements:

  • Time served Marine Engineer/Plant Engineer, 3rd Engineer, or equivalent.
  • Flexibility with working hours, including participation in an on-call rota with availability required every 3rd week.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel engineering, electrical systems, and hull maintenance.
  • Relevant certifications and qualifications in marine engineering.
