Lead Verification and Validation Engineer

The Opportunity

You will be working with a forward-thinking company based in Hampshire that provides technology innovation and consultancy to a variety of Defence clients, as such they need a Lead Verification and Validation Engineer to drive forwards some of their key Information Advantage offers.

Along with Technical & Leadership credentials, you'll need a solid understanding of Commercial and P3M activities on major defence delivery programmes to be successful as the Lead Verification and Validation Engineer

Your Areas of Responsibility / Tasks will include:

  • Working with senior client stakeholders to understand required technical capabilities and timelines across related sets of large scale Information Systems delivery programmes.
  • Provide a leadership role within our V&V team. Drive forward delivery activity championing systems engineering best practice throughout.
  • Build strong relationships with our customer base
  • Identify required skills to deliver over subsequent programme phases. Support recruitment as necessary.
  • Identify appropriate test strategy & methodology for a range of programmes & projects advising on industry partnering approach as required.
  • Champion improvements and efficiency initiatives, use industry knowledge
  • Support effective technical decision making as required and present clear ways ahead for stakeholders. Seek to empower others and upskill wherever possible.

Your Required Skills & Experience:

  • Experience of planning & leading Enterprise-scale V&V activity on a large scale defence programme
  • Understanding of V&V in the wider systems engineering lifecycle.
  • Ability to influence a diverse set of technical and non-technical stakeholders both face to face and in hybrid working scenarios.
  • Experience of being an advocate for both V&V and change activity.
  • Knowledge of V&V methodologies, standards, frameworks and tools
  • Experience in test automation
  • Experience in the application of ITIL in the MoD domain
  • Good awareness of Safety and Security Management practices in the MoD domain.
  • Hands on experience of configuration management & baseline development through lifecycle on complex programmes
  • Knowledge and understanding of Military Communications and Information Systems and or ISTAR
  • Understanding of both the military customer and defence procurement.
  • Project and Programme management skills.
  • Domain relevant commercial awareness.
  • Understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) (Desirable)

Qualifications

Ideally you will be degree qualified in a related subject or have the equivalent experience in relevant engineering, scientific or technical-based discipline.
