We are currently working with a globally recognized client, who is looking for a Technical Superintendent to join their office in Marseille. With a fleet of 400+ vessels, the successful candidate will benefit from joining a market leading company which operates in 40+ countries.

About The Role:
You will be a representative of the ship owner, on board of the vessels and at the ports. Your aim is to optimize the management of the vessel in certain situations using appropriate actions.

Responsibilities:
Whilst reporting to the Fleet Manager, your duties will be:
*You will ensure the operational monitoring of container vessels of your designated area.
*You will initiate an investigation for each vessel, determine purchases and repairs to take place in order to comply with technical shipping standards, expiration dates as well as the company's practices. Once approved by the manager, you will implement these actions.
*Whilst performing technical interventions, your duty will be to supervise and coordinate crew members as well as any external contacts including any shipping experts, repair yards, classification companies and more.
*You will commit to root cause analysis of any defects reported by 3rd parties and receive feedback on owned fleet.
*You will be the main point of contact between captains, chief engineers, lines and shipyards. You will also come up with operational budgets designated for each vessel and monitor them.
*If required on site, you will be the appointed expert on CMA Ships, as well as a representative.
*You will keep all shipping documentation up-to-date as well as all the necessary certificates which are key for the vessel's operation. You will also take control over their consumption of oil, fuel and more; as well be a part of their optimization.
*Finally, in general, you are responsible for the good condition of the assigned vessels' seaworthiness as well as their business performance including international obligations, speed, capacity, lifting gear, certificates and more.

About you:
*You have a chief/second engineer license, or a degree in naval engineering
*5-year experience at least as a seafarer and/or in a similar position.
*You are very fluent in spoken and written English and proficient with office and IT tools.
*You have a good knowledge of international shipping regulations. Expert knowledge in a technical field (hull, engines, etc.) will be appreciated.
*Your rigour, responsiveness, and capacity for analysis and synthesis, combined with interpersonal skills, will enable you to succeed in your missions

The position involves frequent business trips, which round up to around 45 days p.a.
