We have has an exciting role come up with one of our large st Defence clients in the UK! They are seeking an Environmental & Mechanical Test Engineer to join the Manufacturing Test Engineering organisation supporting environmental and mechanical testing of electrical/electronic weapon systems and sub-assemblies.
The Role:
* Supporting test facility introduction and ensuring that configuration control of equipment and facilities is in place prior to use, generating risk assessments, supporting test specifications and operator instructions.
* Supporting ESS (Environmental Stress Screening) and mechanical test with diagnosis of production test equipment issues in conjunction with the Calibration & Maintenance department.
* Supporting ESS and Operations with day-to-day support of test equipment. Setting up test equipment (loading test fixtures / cables) and assisting with new product introduction.
What are we looking for?
* HNC/HND level of qualifications or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject.
* An understanding of thermal, vibration and mechanical (e.g. C of G, pressure) test principles and test equipment.
* Good verbal and written communication skills, including generation of test specifications, operator instructions and technical reports based on higher-level requirements.
* Proven analytical and problem solving skills, with strong attention to detail and a supportive, collaborative approach to working in a technical team.
* Ability to diagnose faults and conduct methodical investigations; assisting the ESS team with implementing solutions.
* Experience working within a mechanical environment (e.g. experience with torque tooling) and proven practical experience.
* Whilst not essential, experience in developing, deploying and supporting environmental and vibration test facilities would be beneficial.
* Previous experience using PC-based vibration control systems would also be beneficial (such as DataPhysics).
* Experience using Eurotherm thermal controllers would also be beneficial.
* A flexible, adaptable test engineer, able to work autonomously or in a small team, and often under pressure to deliver.
