Electro-Mechanical Engineer

6-Month Contract Opportunity

Based in Bristol with hybrid working

Rates are Negotiable Inside IR35

As the Electro-Mechanical Engineer, you will be working alongside a market-leading company where you will get the opportunity to be involved in a variety of responsibilities, some of which are:

  • Integration of systems to be performed on wing, empennage, and boom structures
  • Electrical system, cooling system, and flight test instrumentation to be integrated
  • Coordinate with both Structures and Electrical Wiring
  • Interconnect Systems (EWIS), teams as well as external customer and partner stakeholders to fix routing and attachments
  • Populate the digital mock-up (DMU) with standard parts (click bonds etc.), as well as any designed brackets and supports that may be necessary
  • Mature the integration within the context of schemed structural constraints-present state of maturity-to a Designed for Manufacture (DFM) maturity integration solution
  • Concept generation, detailed design & development, support qualification, and production
  • Plan, conceptualize, and create mechanical designs for new products
  • Develop testing processes, and perform testing and validation of new designs
  • Generate working prototypes for beta testing and customer demonstration
  • Perform engineering calculations to support design work
  • Create and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer software
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and work with vendors and contractors
  • Perform detailed documentation to track project development and design process
  • Ensure the project timeline is met and the project stays within budget
  • Update design specs to reflect changes as required
  • Optimise the design solutions, based on the correct balance of cost, quality, manufacturability, serviceability, and performance.
  • Produce engineering schemes, models, and drawings for components/assemblies in line with the requirements of the Programme.
  • Prepare drawings and other engineering data required for the manufacturing of the product and data submittal to the customer.
  • To communicate effectively with co-workers, customers, and suppliers
  • Configuration services, and BOM creation using codified components.
  • Delivery and installation strategies, installation designs (red/green drawings), and mod packs for installing hardware products onto platforms.

Required Skills:

  • Degree level or equivalent in Aeronautical or Mechanical Engineering preferred,
  • with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Design
  • Under Water Systems
  • Excellent knowledge of Aerospace structures
  • Excellent knowledge of computerized design and analysis methods (CREO)
  • Experience with GD&T (tolerance stack up)
  • Good experience in aerospace Composite (honeycomb) /Metallic materials and manufacturing processes
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Knowledge of Smarteam
  • Customer-focused/Ability to establish credibility with internal and external customers
  • Understanding of processes: ECRs, Concessions,…
  • Understanding of stress principles
  • Awareness of A/C industry standards, regulations, and qualification requirements
  • Good English verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work to tight, demanding deadlines and customer demands
  • Ability to work effectively within an integrated project team
  • Knowledge of tools like JIRA, DOORS, PALMA

Desirable skills:

  • Experience in the Military or defence industry with an understanding of Naval platforms will be added advantage
  • shall be trained and familiar with ITAR regulations & requirements and Export Administration Regulations(EAR)
