ContractARM are recruiting a Residential Electrical Engineer to support a major project at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Reporting to the Lead Construction Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and assuring the quality of electrical installation and commissioning activities throughout the construction lifecycle.
Your primary focus will be electrical works within facilities supporting submarine refit operations, ensuring compliance with scope, standards, and safety regulations.
Key responsibilities:

Ensuring delivery of site quality through active management, advice, and on-site support

Witnessing installation and commissioning activities
-
Managing day-to-day planning matters alongside the Lead Construction Manager

Providing technical guidance to construction and project teams
-
Resolving site issues and Technical Queries within contractual timescales
-
Ensuring contractors adhere strictly to scope of works and approved change requests
-
Conducting and recording inspections in line with integrated test plans
-
Supporting problem-solving activities and developing practical technical solutions
-
Supervising and mentoring junior staff
-
Applying Learn From Experience (LfE) principles to enhance engineering best practice
-
Supporting compliance with design intent and DNSPs for nuclear-related works
-
Ensuring works meet all relevant local and national regulations and legislation
-
Supporting inspection, maintenance, and modification of dockyard assets
-
Maintaining familiarity with Facilities Engineering procedures
Essential Experience & Skills
-
Strong demonstrable experience resolving complex on-site electrical issues throughout the construction lifecycle
-
Experience providing construction-led feedback to design teams
-
Solid understanding of design, Health & Safety, and Quality procedures
-
Ability to manage works in accordance with company and departmental processes
-
Working knowledge of relevant engineering software and office applications
-
Experience supervising or mentoring junior engineers
-
Experience within nuclear-regulated facilities or high-integrity environments
Must have active SC clearance
