Job Overview: Electrical Project Engineer

As an Electrical Project Engineer, your primary responsibility is to support operational teams in the identification, feasibility, cost-benefit analysis, planning, and execution of projects that enhance fleet risk management, reliability, efficiency, and cost optimization. This dynamic role requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including OEMs, to ensure the seamless execution of projects. From preparing comprehensive project execution plans to delivering projects safely on time and within budget, you will be at the forefront of driving innovation and excellence in electrical engineering within the maritime industry.

Key Duties:

Planning Responsibilities (Plan)
1. Perform and present feasibility, engineering, and cost-benefit studies to internal and external stakeholders.
2. Prepare and execute project plans encompassing risk, quality, time, and cost management.
3. Liaise with operational departments to support vessel repair planning, promoting optimization in risk, quality, time, and cost management.

Operational Responsibilities (Do)
4. Coordinate with internal/external stakeholders to achieve project goals.
5. Evaluate stakeholder work scopes and tenders for risk, quality, time, and cost optimization.
6. Work with OEMs to ensure onboard equipment maintenance aligns with the latest guidelines.
7. Deliver and manage projects ensuring safety, timeliness, and budget adherence.
8. Support statutory regulation compliance and provide temporary resource support.
9. Provide specialist advice during risk assessments and on personal experience and qualifications.
10. Manage assigned service contracts.

Performance Monitoring Responsibilities (Check)
11. Monitor regulatory changes and investigate compliance options.
12. Report machinery performance status to fleet teams and stakeholders.
13. Review and develop service contracts and assess the performance of electrical staff.
14. Assist in recruitment and evaluation of Electro-Technical Officers and Automation Engineers.
15. Monitor USMS, ensuring electrical procedures are safe and up to date, implementing updates via the company MOC system.

Responsibilities for Driving Improvement (Act)
16. Review, develop, and implement new engineering practices for continuous improvement.
17. Provide feedback on stakeholder performance and conduct post-project analysis.
18. Identify areas for improvement in electrical staff and collaborate with the personnel team for training standards.

Requirements for the Role:
- A desire to drive continuous improvement in maintenance and operational condition.
- Ability to deliver quality, economical, and intuitive solutions.

- Good time management skills.
- Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant electrical/electronic subject.
- STCW Electro-Technical Officer Certificate of Competence.
- STCW certification for High Voltage qualification.
- Valid certificate for working with electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres (COMPEX/ATEX).

Technical Competencies:
- 5+ years in the marine electrical industry.
- Understanding of cargo containment systems, cargo handling equipment, and auxiliary systems.
- Direct on-board experience with diesel electric propulsion systems.
- Sound knowledge of marine automation systems.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for projects and electrical defects.
- Familiarity with performance monitoring software and Asset integrity management tools.
- Awareness of ISO standards for ship quality management.
