We are looking for a Buyer for one of our key defence clients on a Permanent basis. The clients are word leaders in advanced protection system for vehicles and occupants. The Job

In charge of the strategic planning of firm programmes. Accountable for the cost, timeliness, and quality of

products and services delivered on multi-million-pound vehicle programmes. To give strategic guidance and

subcontract management skills to corporate bid teams for them to win new business.

Please keep in mind that the firm's headquarters are in West Sussex, and there is a demand for travel.

throughout the UK and abroad from time to time, including corporate offices in Surrey.

Main Responsibilities

Please note this is some of the responsibilities, the full day to day could vary.

  • Project team point of contact, managing procurement dependencies across the departments of Quality, product Development, Logistics, Production, and Legal.
  • Develop bid and project procurement strategies that communicate to key stakeholders clear cost, time, and quality deliverable.
  • Assist the sales unit in acquiring new business by sourcing effectively and accurately at the early phases of product maturation.
  • Creating and managing project budgets, as well as setting bill of materials costs at critical phases of the product development cycle.
  • Identification and pursuit of cost reductions and efficiency in order to meet goals.
  • Setting priorities for Engineering and Supplier Quality tasks based on supplier lead times and stock-in-plant dates.
  • Oversee the planning of material requirements from procurement through production readiness, and
  • collaborate with the Logistics team to ensure timely delivery.

Required

  • CIPS recommended or presently pursuing CIPS.
  • Proven expertise in supply chain management in the automotive, engineering, and manufacturing sectors
  • Extensive knowledge of technical drawings, design intent, and production procedures.
  • Capable of managing low-level maturity design and cost estimation.
  • Planning and implementation capabilities, with the ability to meet tight timelines.
  • Skilled negotiator.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication abilities.
  • Knowledge with SAP and equivalent ERP systems
  • Full driving licence.
