The role:
As an Assembly Technician, you will be responsible for Electrical and mechanical assembly and integration of complex systems working from drawings and engineering instruction. The role will involve working with support from the engineering group, which will need a methodical and precise approach to ensure the successful completion of production tasks on high-value hardware. You will be using hand and air tools such as Jigs, fixtures, and measuring tools on precision assemblies, so it is key that you are experienced and safe with these tools. Problem-solving will be a key part of this role, therefore it is important that the engineer approaches these problems with a positive attitude.
Required Skills, qualifications, and Experience:
- Proven experience as a Vehicle Assembly Technician, armoured vehicle/Aircraft Assembly Technician or similar role.
- Ability to complete set-ups and perform quality and performance testing.
- Ability to work from written instructions with limited supervision.
- Ability to use hand tools and measuring equipment with high accuracy.
- Ability to liaise with the test support, engineering, and Quality functions.
- Attention to detail and ability to self-inspect work to ensure quality defects are mitigated.
- Hands-on experience in a manufacturing setting.
- Understanding of "clean as you go"/6S/FOD/Tool control programs mandatory.
- Experienced with quality inspection points and process documentation.
- A very high level of health and safety awareness.
- Must be able to take direction well and is a strong team player.
- Extreme attention to detail and continual pursuit of perfection.
- Excellent listening and communication skills.
- Excellent organisational skills and problem-solving skills.
Previous experience working in manufacturing work environments with assembly and fitting experience is desirable.
