Gordon Murray Design Limited currently has an exciting opportunity for a Vehicle Dynamics engineer to join our Design, Development and Engineering Centre based in Shalford, Surrey
Job Function:
The key elements of the Vehicle Dynamics Function are to ensure that the Vehicle Dynamics development activities are refined and matured from a client, engineering and a manufacturing perspective, through design, analysis, testing, data acquisition and simulation to allow a smooth transition into a successful project delivery and ultimately production.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reporting to Principal Eng. - Vehicle Dynamics & Simulation
- Support Principal Eng in Concept work and Attribute setting
- Lead Benchmark and Target definition and monitoring though the vehicle development
- Lead Vehicle Dynamics Performance analysis - ICE / BEV / Hybrid vehicles
- Ensure Design of suspension, bush, spring, damper, roll bar, wheel freq, steering
- Ensure consistent and clear Vehicle Specification & Vehicle Setup Sheets documentation
- Lead the Vehicle Dynamics CAE and Define PHYSICAL Testing PROCEDUREs
- Ensure consistent Correlation reports of Experimental Testing Data & CAE Simulation
- Keep up to date with latest technologies in the industry
- Conduct Meeting with Suppliers and Technical partners
- Lead the evolution Vehicle Specification & Vehicle Setup Sheets
- Check and Validate Kinematic & MBD tools (e.g. Motion Solve/Lotus Shark etc.)
Miscellaneous Requirements:
- Experience: 5-10 years in automotive industry / similar roles
- Strong Theoretical vehicle dynamics knowledge
- Strong knowledge and understanding of K&C data, Test verification and Target Setting
- Virtual vehicle dynamics knowledge, with Extensive background in CAE/Simulation
- Knowledge of Multy-Body and K&C sw Results Interpretation
- Methodical approach (e.g. 6sigma DMAIC) to problem solving is fundamental
- Structured Reporting skills : Assumption/Target/Conclusion/Recommendation
- Good Knowledge of Physical Vehicle Tuning techniques
- Experience of Subjective and Objective Testing and data analysis
- Driving basic training to understand the "vehicle feeling" perception
