JOB DESCRIPTION:

This role represents a unique opportunity for you to join a highly motivated and experienced team, that is expanding due to increasing demand from our customers. We are looking for engineers who share our passion for innovation and who are excited by the chance to test and help develop the next generation of driveline products for a range of applications, including an ever-increasing number for Electric Vehicle applications. This role, offers the opportunity to develop specific skills that are increasingly sought after. UTAC will provide you with support and training and a platform from which you will gain a broad range of experiences.

Your core focus will be on Driveline and EDU testing. The nature of the project work undertaken will be varied, ranging from durability to efficiency mapping and performance testing, on both electrified and conventional driveline products. Testing is carried out in accordance with established as well as bespoke drive cycles for our customer base that includes both premium OEMs and Tier-1s from the automotive, motorsport and commercial vehicle markets.

You will be actively involved in all aspects of our test program life cycle, working closely with both our customers and our in-house engineer and technician teams. Project tasks will include Fixture design, equipment installation, test bed control system setup, test execution, data processing and reporting.

Role & Responsibilities

Health, Safety, Environment & Security:

Create and maintain job specific risk assessment(s) for the tests being undertaken
Ensure appropriate PPE is being used at all times in designated areas
Customer service:

Provide regular updates to our customer and ensure the project is delivered on time and to their expectations
Deliver test reports accurately (RFT) and on time (OTD)

Technical excellence:

Competently deliver tests to a high professional standard on time using the agreed level of resource.
Review and analyse logged data, and validate the test results
Ensure equipment calibration is valid and project documentation is up to date
Identify improvements (systems of work plus, data handling and manipulation) and manage any changes appropriately

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications

Educated to degree level or equivalent experience in relevant engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronic)
Experience

An interest and passion in progressing your career in Driveline test and development, including HV electric machines (essential)
Previous relevant industry work experience e.g. driveline testing (desirable not essential)
Mechanical driveline and electric vehicle drive systems knowledge (desirable not essential)
Testbed control system(s) and CAN communications (preferred)
CAD (preferred)
Instrumentation and data acquisition (preferred)
High Voltage awareness (training will be provided)
Skills

Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
Strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills

This position be will based on site at Leyland
Full UK driving license & own transport (Leyland is not easily accessible via public transport).
