PermanentWe are looking for a senior principal radar engineer for one of our key defence clients based in London on a hybrid basis. The company are an innovative company based in London that work on next generation defence and security electronics products to combat various range of threats, they do this by having a creative and cutting-edge technology which themselves above and beyond other products in the market.
The Job
As the Senior Principal Radar Engineer, you will be the primary point of contact for Radar Systems within the company. You will be following specifications; they create and supervise detailed and accurate estimates for both new developments and existing product enhancements. They contribute to the advancement of other Group employees' careers and technical talents. They collaborate with the senior management team to define the product plan.
The main responsibilities
* Apply and communicate expert knowledge of radar systems, RF, and related methodologies, architectures, and technologies at all levels of the organisation.
* Coordinate technical delivery for several work packages and projects and/or serve as technical authority.
* Primary point of contact for Sales and Systems Engineering personnel in product selection.
* Radar design and RF module development and integration
* Radar and sub-system simulation suite development
* Radar signal processing algorithm development
* Field trials and data gathering campaigns.
* Radar performance prediction, assessment, and improvement
* Oversee the development, verification, and validation of technical requirements and specifications.
* Communicate with subsystem suppliers to verify that performance requirements are met.
* Provide internal and external customers with technical presentations, papers, and reports.
* The ability to travel both within the UK and abroad. Requests may be made on little notice.
Essential Requirements
* Radar Engineering expert with significant recognised contributions to the field and/or company products
* Proven track record of successfully leading big, complex analytical and design projects/programs on time and on budget.
Thorough understanding/experience with the bulk of the following:
* MATLAB and digital signal processing
* Pulse Compression, Doppler Filtering, CFAR and Detection
* Radar Video or Image Processing, Plot Extraction and Tracking
* Phased Array Radar
* Embedded Software, Linux or FPGA
* RF, Antenna or Radar Electronics
* Systems Engineering Life Cycle
Desirable skills
* Comfortable with hardware test and debug using lab equipment.
* Experience of source control and issue tracking tools (e.g., git / JIRA)
* Other commonly used programming languages, e.g. Python, C/C++
