Project Engineering Manager in Portsmouth, Hampshire

PermanentWe are looking for a Project Engineering manager to join the team and work within the Training Services Group, you will be responsible for the oversight and delivery of the engineering aspects of simulation technology-based programmes.
You will have an opportunity to lead a multi-disciplined team consisting of systems, software and hardware engineers. You will support the establishment and mobilisation of a newly formed team which will require shaping and development in line with business engineering governance.
What you'll be doing:
·Provide Engineering Management support to the Training Technology Portfolio Manager to support the development of training systems for use by the Royal Navy (RN)
·Maintain and update development plans related to engineering on the projects and contracts
·Prepare and review engineering estimates and schedules relating to engineering developments and bids
·Ensure engineering activities are adequately resourced to achieve the programme in the most cost-effective manner
·Provide support to the Project Manager for the identification of risks and subsequent evaluation
·Ensure the overarching strategic intent of Maritime Services is followed and applied
Your skills and experiences:
Essential
·Existing knowledge of complicated software development and integration, alongside the understanding of IT systems development engineering principles
·Experience overseeing diverse teams in the execution of their tasks
·The ability to lead a portfolio of interrelated, but separately funded tasks is essential
Desirable
·Knowledge and understanding of the Naval equipment and training domain knowledge of hardware and electrical engineering principles/issues/regulatory requirements relevant to simulators
·Ability to influence stakeholders at all levels to adopt a particular course of action
