Advanced Resource Managers are working with a leading design, engineering, and landscape architecture consultancy to find a Highways Engineer to join the Edinburgh team, working on major prestigious projects across the UK.

About You:

  • You have an Accredited Degree in Engineering (or equivalent)
  • You have existing knowledge and experience of Traffic or Highway Engineering Design and standards
  • You have a sound understanding of highways and traffic engineering techniques and principles and a track record in transport planning, design and/or delivery
  • You hold Membership of a professional institution (e.g. MILT, MICE or MCIHT)
  • You are working towards Chartered status
  • You are self-motivated with good interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
  • You possess strong analytical ability and a solid understanding of traffic and transportation fundamentals and current design standards
  • You are able to communicate / liaise effectively and professionally with the design team, clients and contractors
  • You have expertise in traffic and highways related industry recognised software
  • You have knowledge and experience of TMA 2004, DMRB, Highways Acts, RTRA 1984, RTAs, TSRGD 2016, Traffic Signs Manual and relevant British Standards
  • You have evidence of Continuous Professional Development

What you will be doing:
You will be supporting Senior staff to provide technical input to a wide range of project types and consultancy commissions. Specifically, you will be utilising your knowledge of traffic and transportation to develop and initiate traffic and highway schemes from inception through to completion, as projects may be undertaken at various stages depending upon the specification/ brief (e.g. outline / feasibility / preliminary / detailed design).
You will provide weekly monitoring information against key indicators, check technical outputs, drawings and reports produced by junior staff and ensure all project files are up to date and comply with the QA system.
You will regularly liaise with other technical staff across Project Centre offices, and assist in developing Quality Assurance systems and procedures in the service area.

This role is based in Edinburgh and is a full-time hybrid role. Office attendance will be 2-3 times a week.

The salary for this role is between £30,000 - £40,000 depending on experience. The benefits package includes a 25-day holiday allowance with the option to buy up to 5 days, life insurance, private health care and a pension plan.
