As a Heat Exchanger Design Engineer, you will be involved in the specification, design, and delivery of multiple heat exchangers across the Rolls-Royce SMR power station, using the best available knowledge and technology to trade and meet highly challenging and complex requirements. The role will allow you to use innovation throughout the current concept design stage and beyond. With innovation comes opportunities, and you will have an abundance of pathways available to you to develop professionally.

Confidence can sometimes hold us back from applying for a job. But we'll let you in on a secret: there's no such thing as a 'perfect' candidate. If you feel you meet 75% of the requirements for this role, we would love to hear from you.

Also, if you are considering a career move or a sector jump, please get in touch: we welcome applications from people with transferable skills.

  1. Heat Exchanger Thermal Design. You will have experience in the specification of requirements and the subsequent development of conceptual heat exchanger designs within time, cost, and quality constraints. Proficiency in the use of software such as HTRI Xchanger Suite to develop designs will be advantageous.
  2. Heat Exchanger Mechanical Design. You will have experience in the development of heat exchanger or pressure vessel mechanical designs, including the application of relevant design codes such as ASME VIII and TEMA standards. You will be proficient in the specification and review of component definition drawings and CAD models. Experience of mechanical design software such as AutoPIPE Vessel will be of benefit.
  3. Intelligent Customer. You will have experience working with suppliers to develop detailed component designs to readiness for manufacture, including the review of vendor documentation including calculations, analysis, and drawings.
  4. You will possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven capability to convey complex technical issues to a range of audiences. You will be capable of presenting technical and safety case substantiation, including the compilation of claims, arguments, and evidence, in formal documentation.
  5. Team Player. You will be able to work effectively and collaboratively with other business functions in a dynamic fast-paced environment, developing concurrent component designs as system configurations mature.
