ContractFaults Management Engineer for New Product Quality. This function will see you get involved in many key areas of the product development phase, (Pre-Production build events, Material quality standard development, and the FMM Process).
Purpose of the role:
As a Quality Engineer within the New Product Quality team, your focus will be the development of all new vehicles in line with Track 25.
This function will see you get involved in many key areas of the product development phase, (Design reviews, Pre-Production build events, Joint checks, Material quality standard development, and the Faults management process).
This is a challenging area to develop in but will give you the opportunity to work across the wider business with other key areas, (Engineering, Supplier Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering and Production areas).
The role develops interpersonal and communication skills by challenging the ability to persuade, convince, and guide with assertion, while building important relationships at all levels both internally and externally across the business.
Principal Accountabilities:
* Vehicle Development - Quality faults reduction in the new design using lessons learned and previous model quality data, to reduce customer quality concerns.
* Faults Management Coordination process
* Project specific KPI reporting to ensure each project is delivering to the required parameters at each gateway
* Faults management meeting coordination and process ownership
* Management of the fault allocation meeting to deliver a robust QN to QCR conversion
* Continuous development of reporting metrics using PowerBi
* Development of component and whole vehicle quality standards, working together with both engineering and supplier quality teams
* Creation of project quality targets such as CMM, EOL, Line 3, MPA, Batch & Hold etc.
* Management of the Product Audit (MPA) tracker and delivery of a glide path for the respective project
* Support delivery of the quality control plan for respective project
* Ensure holistic project planning and alignment across the relevant quality functions
Who are we looking for?
We work in a fast-paced environment so the ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought, and decisive authority is crucial.
You may be required to travel to off-site development facilities, within the UK and throughout Europe, therefore a flexible approach to travel is required.
Other traits of a successful employee will include excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and excellent attention to detail.
Requirements:
A degree in mechanical / automotive engineering or similar (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience in a similar role.
Ideally you will also have experience of:
* Comprehensive knowledge of automotive manufacturing or similar industry.
* 8D or Practical Problem Solving (PPS)
* New product development experience in the Automotive Industry
* An understanding of engineering drawings would be advantageous.
* Statistical Analysis (SPC).
* Working knowledge of FMEA and Design for Manufacture.
* Project management of cross functional working groups.
* Proven experience of working in a dedicated team environment as well as the ability to work as an individual.
