Responsibilities:
- Constructing and managing high-level function group timing plans for each vehicle project from conception through to design release and SOP
- Working with Chief engineers/Programme managers to ensure Project specific plans are aligned and timed accordingly
- Support purchasing and project principals to ensure supplier deliverables, timings, and lead times are accurately considered
- Collating high-level plans to develop a resource map for the function group based on the project timings
- Including investment requirements, programme costs, and resource are covered within function group budget
- Monitoring engineering completion (DFMEA progress, Part releases, and DVP status), supplier selection, and managing engineering change with the principal/senior engineers
- Ensuring effects of this are reflected in the project timing and are communicated to the business
- Determine knock-on effects to resourcing across the function group and consequently on other project timings
- Managing the project support engineers and supporting their deliverables for each project:
- Vehicle mass tacking
- Part release status
- DRC tracking and detailed release plan
- BoM management and build/car configurations
- Reporting of engineering change from development activities
- Supporting purchasing on cost and lead time
- ECRs documentation completion/presentation with engineers, purchasing, and manufacturing input
- Supporting BCR reviews
- Support the development of business wide planning tools/software: Consistent templates and project reports across projects, investigate ability to have interconnected timing plans, where detailed release plans, supplier plans, and supplier lead times feed into connected high level plans - Reducing admin burden
- Area of responsibility of full chassis systems: Suspension links, Corner springs and dampers, Roll and heave control, Uprights and hubs, Wheels and tyres, Foundation braking, Brake actuation, Parking brake, Steering systems, Pedals, and pedal box
- Cost, timing, and mass
Experience and Qualifications:
- Project management experience ideally across steering, suspension and brakes across platforms and projects
- 5+ years' experience in the automotive sector
- Typical experience 0-2 years in automotive or similar engineering projects
Skills/Knowledge:
Knowledge of design and project management in automotive projects, ideally within chassis
